“Ezra the Scribe”, is a highly respected figure in Judaism - just as he should be within his Chapter!

Performing much the same role as the Secretary in Blue or Craft Lodges, the Scribe Ezra (or Scribe-E) is a fundamental part of the Holy Royal Arch Chapter.
It’s often said you cannot have a great Chapter without a great Scribe-E.
The Working Tools aims to help the Companions who take on this role to carry out their vital task, and make them look like Admin-gurus in the process!

Of course the specific duties will be dependant on your Supreme Grand Chapter or Province, so always best to check with your governing body.

What is the difference between a Scribe-E and a Secretary?

Quite simply, a Scribe E is the Chapter equivalent of a Craft Lodge’s Secretary. As with many Masonic Orders, this key role takes a different name in order to place it within the time period of the Holy Royal Arch’s narrative.

What’s the Plural of Scribe-E?

The plural of Scribe-E is actually Scribes-E, not Scribe-Es.
